Overview

Orthodontic treatment is becoming more popular due to the introduction of more esthetic appliances and early diagnosis. A review of the scope of practice of orthodontics and an update of the latest advances will be discussed. The main part of the presentation will discuss the necessity of maintaining optimal oral health and hygiene to ensure successful orthodontic treatment outcome. Special emphasis will be made on strategies while using different orthodontic appliances like fixed appliances, aligners and TADs. This lecture will review the nature and etiology of hygiene related orthodontic problems and discuss how to deal with them. Furthermore, protocols for patient follow up and home care instructions will be reviewed.

  • Review the pathophysiology of dental and periodontal diseases.
  • Understand how to incorporate best oral hygiene practices to deliver optimal treatment outcomes.

A refund of the registration fee will be made as follows: Notification in writing must be received 60 days prior to the event: 50% – excluding VAT, bank charges and other charges relates to the payment. Notification in writing must be received 30 days prior to the event: 25% – excluding VAT, bank charges and other charges relates to the payment. Notification received within less than 30 days prior to the event will result in no refund.


PG EDUCATION PROGRAMMES

A refund of the registration fee will be made as follows: 50% refund will be provided (excluding VAT, bank charges and other charges relates to the payment) if CAPP EVENTS & TRAINING receives a notification in writing 3 months prior to the start of the first module. No refund will be given after this date. All notifications must be received in writing.

Dr. Abdelhakim El Gheriani

BDS DMD MS MSD, Diplomate American Board of Orthodontics

Dr. El-Gheriani completed his postgraduate training in Orthodontics at the University of Colorado, USA in 2006 after earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University of Pittsburgh, USA in 2002. He also holds a Master of Science (MS) in Human Genetics from the University of Pittsburgh, Bachelor Degree in Dental Surgery (BDS) from Benghazi University, and a Master of Science in Dental Medicine (MSD) from the University of Colorado. Dr. El-Gheriani is a certified Diplomate in the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO).

He served on the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh and more recently was Assistant Professor of Orthodontics and Clinic Director at the European University College, Dubai.

Dr. El-Gheriani is the UAE Ambassador for the American Association of Orthodontists. He is published in the prestigious Journal of Dental Research as well as the American Journal of Orthodontics and has been invited as a guest speaker to several international meetings.
