Overview
This course is designed to provide theoretical and clinical instruction in nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia in accordance with the American Dental Association, and Dental Faculties of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons and the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK) guidelines. This course will enable participants to achieve an understanding of the administration of nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia for dental treatment. The course is intended for general dentists and dental specialists. In the afternoon hands-on training session, participants will have the opportunity to administer and undergo nitrous oxide sedation under close supervision.
Course Objectives
- Define and describe the physiological and psychological aspects of anxiety
- Describe the stages of consciousness and the levels of sedation
- Discuss the pharmacology of nitrous oxide
- Discuss the advantages/disadvantages and indications/contraindications of nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia
- Perform patient evaluation, selection, and preparation for nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia
- Describe and discuss the function of the basic components of nitrous oxide/oxygen delivery and scavenging systems
- Monitor patient undergoing nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia and document the procedure
- Discuss the complications associated with nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia and the prevention, recognition, and management of medical emergencies
- Discuss potential occupational health hazards and abuse potential
- Administer nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia to patients in a clinical setting in a safe and effective manner
- Discuss the identification of phases of sedation on a patient. Tips to manage possible emergency's

Refund/Cancelation Policy
CONFERENCES, HANDS-ON COURSE AND ALL OTHER EVENTS
A refund of the registration fee will be made as follows: Notification in writing must be received 60 days prior to the event: 50% – excluding VAT, bank charges and other charges relates to the payment. Notification in writing must be received 30 days prior to the event: 25% – excluding VAT, bank charges and other charges relates to the payment. Notification received within less than 30 days prior to the event will result in no refund.
PG EDUCATION PROGRAMMES
A refund of the registration fee will be made as follows: 50% refund will be provided (excluding VAT, bank charges and other charges relates to the payment) if CAPP EVENTS & TRAINING receives a notification in writing 3 months prior to the start of the first module. No refund will be given after this date. All notifications must be received in writing.
