Continuing Professional Development is the process by which qualified Social Workers to maintain, improve and expand their skills, knowledge and expertise, and develop the qualifications needed for professional practice. CPD is a career-long process shaped by changing working environments, professions new information and community needs.

Social workers are responsible for their professional development in accordance with the AASW-CPD guidelines. Requirements can be met by participating in AASW and/or external provider CPD activities. To record professional development towards CPD goals, members must ensure that their activities are relevant to them and that they comply with the categories defined in the CPD policy.

A record of professional development activities should be kept in your CPD record.
