Emergencies are unscheduled visits by patients in severe pain, suffering from swelling or after sustaining dental trauma and usually under emotional distress. This course aims to refresh and update your knowledge on diagnosis and management of endodontic emergencies, which will include various areas such as irreversible pulpitis, necrotic pulp emergencies, dental trauma and sodium hypochlorite incident.
This program will also include an afternoon of hands-on exercises such that clinicians can undertake and review the techniques in pulpotomy and restoration of teeth with crown fractures.
At the conclusion of the program participants should be able to:
CANCELLATION – If you need to cancel your registration you must inform the Continuing Professional Development Office, as soon as possible, so that your place can be offered to another applicant. Refunds following cancellation are as follows: a $50 cancellation fee will be charged for all course cancellations made more than 6 weeks prior to the course commencement; cancellations made less than six weeks prior to the course will be offered a 50% refund; cancellations made less than one week prior to the course or failure to attend/notify the CPD office will receive NO refund.
GST- All course fees include 10% GST in the total cost. For your tax purposes, upon payment, your receipt will show the GST amount. All receipts list the University ABN 84 002 705 224.

Dr Michael Yoon
Dr Michael Yoon completed his general dental training (Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours) at the University of Melbourne and following 3 years of full-time private practice he returned to complete his endodontic specialist training (Doctor of Clinical Dentistry). Michael successfully completed his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) and is also an Honorary Fellow of the University of Melbourne. Michael serves as a committee member of the Australian Society of Endodontology (Vic Branch) as well as the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons Victorian and Tasmanian regional committee. Having taught endodontics to overseas-trained dentists in the past, he continues to share his passion for endodontics by being actively involved in lecturing and clinical teaching of our future dentists at the University of Melbourne.
Dr Morgan Wu
Dr Morgan Wu completed the BDS degree from The University of Otago in 2002 and completed the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics at The University of Melbourne in 2012. Since 2011, Morgan has been working in several Endodontic Practices in Melbourne and Sydney and is presently the principal Endodontist at The Endodontic Centre. Morgan has a passion in Endodontic education and promoting Endodontics. He is currently the lecturer and the convener for the DDS Endodontic program at The University of Melbourne. Morgan is also actively involved in the dental community, being the past secretary of Graduate Study Group, a CPD committee member of the Federal Australian Dental Association, and is currently a committee member of the ASEVB, a member of Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists and the Endodontic Society of Taiwan.
Dr Vui Tan
Dr Vui Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a concurrent Honours degree from the University of Adelaide in 2012. She worked in public and private practice in Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney before undertaking the RACDS Primary Examinations, for which she obtained commendations in all streams and the highest mark in Physiology. She received her Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Endodontics) from the University of Melbourne in 2018 and was awarded the Ephraim Ehrmann Memorial Prize. Vui works as a full-time endodontist in private practice in Melbourne, and is also involved in teaching undergraduate students at the Melbourne Dental School.
Dr Aovana Timmerman
Dr Aovana Timmerman obtained her Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Melbourne in 2001, then her fellowship with Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2011 before completing her endodontic specialist training at the University of Melbourne in 2016. She currently practices part-time in endodontics at Collins Street Specialist Centre in Melbourne and is also a lecturer in Endodontics for the DDS Endodontic Program at the University of Melbourne. She has published papers in Australian and international journals and is actively involved with research.
