Herodotus, who is a contemporary of Hippocrates, gained fame curing diseases by correcting spinal abnormalities through therapeutic exercises. If the patient was too weak, they would manipulate the patient’s spine. It all started with Daniel David Palmer, who adjusted the spine of a deaf person who then claimed that it restores his hearing. He was the first to establish a chiropractic school in Iowa and has continued to refine chiropractic techniques and further study how manual manipulation can relieve pain and improve function.
