Arrive at the in Luang Prabang and spend the first evening at your leisure.
For early risers, there’s a special dawn visit to watch the beautiful and serene ceremony of monks collecting the alms, before enjoying breakfast at the hotel. Next, you’ll take a tour of the city starting at the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, and then continuing to visit two temples – Wat Mai and Wat Xieng Thong, one of Laos’ most photographed temples. After lunch you’ll have the chance to get up close and personal with the elephants, helping to bathe these giants while leaning about elephant behaviour and communication
Start the day with an early visit to the local market to buy fresh produce for your cooking class later. On the drive back, stop at the Kuang Si Falls where you’ll enjoy a short hike to the location of your cooking class. Here the chef will demonstrate traditional techniques and with his help you will create your own feast for lunch. Before returning to Luang Prabang, enjoy a refreshing swim in the turquoise pools of Kuang Si and a visit to the Asiatic Bear Rescue Centre.
This morning, board a boat for a trip along the Mekong. Your first stop at the temple shrine of Wat Done Khoun Nelemith. Surrounded by the Mekong River, its only inhabitants are the monks who retreat here in search of spiritual enlightenment. Next, stop at the Pak Ou Caves which are crammed with thousands of Buddha images, before cruising back to Luang Prabang for an evening at leisure.
Today you will be transferred back to the airport in time for your flight back home.
